Evaluating Your Pain
At Doylestown Buxmont Rehab, your pain will be evaluated by board certified specialists (called "physiatrists") who have been trained at the country's most progressive hospitals, including Mayo Clinic, Moss Rehabilitation and Temple University.  Our physiatrists (pronounced ‘fiss-ee-at-rist’) will consider many factors including your general physical condition, the origin of your pain, how long you have had the pain, the intensity of your pain, the extent to which it affects your ability to do everyday tasks (such as work, sports and household chores) and therapies, treatments and medications you have used or are currently using.

In addition to the basic diagnostic 'tools' used by all physicians, our specialists are board certified in the use of special diagnostic techniques, most notably electrodiagnostic medicine: EMG - electromyography, NCS - nerve conduction studies. These techniques help the physiatrist to diagnose conditions that cause some types of pain.

Treating Your Pain
After your evaluation, one of our specialists will develop an individualized, non surgical treatment program for you.  Your program may consist of any of the following or combinations thereof: physical therapy, home exercise, medications, interventional pain management - joint injections, lumbar injections, trigger point and epidural injections, Botox injections (for muscle spasticity), heat, cold, electronic stimulation (TENS), aquatic therapy, or other modalities.  Your progress will be monitored and changes in your treatment program will be made as required.
